Coffee Roughnecks in Minamihorie, Nishi-ku, Osaka
We present this original review of Coffee Roughnecks in the Minamihorie neighborhood of Nishi-ku, Osaka.

Coffee Roughnecks is a small, quirky, neighborhood spot. As if the big, bright, blue Picari Sweat bench wasn’t enough of an indication, this place can be a little random.
Owner speaks English. spent time in New Zealand.

The general organizing principle of the shop seems to be have thrown together whatever the principal of the shop seemed to like at the time. Coffee, of course. But also a collection of anime figures. It seems like it has either been in this location for a long time, or took over an old-style Japanese shop.
I ordered a Long Black; which was s double shot with a side of hot water? Why, so you can adjust the amount of water to your preference. If you order it to-go, he dumps all the water in. A Short Black, is a single shot, same style.

Despite the name, it doesn’t seem particularly rough. On the day I was there, it did seem a little bit serious. Which reminds me:
If you’re going to stop into Coffee Roughnecks, you should probably take a look at his rules.

That’s a lots of rules. Don’t sit on the beach outside unless youre a customer. You can’t hold a sear for your friend. Keep your voice down. My favorite one was that you can only stay 50 minutes, which was odd considering his shop was completely empty on the day I was there.

All those preemptory rules are somewhat rude, as I see it. I will take the rules at Bar Martha in Tokyo, and I’ll do it because that is an epic shop. But this place, is almost like some guys living room… and posting this rules, again and again, at every other seat at his counter – is a little much.
While I thought the coffee was okay (not great, but fine), if I wanted to give the operator props for anything, I will say there was some excellwnt 90s hiphop playing during my visit. I know I heard some Tribe.
